Size Guide

Every brand's medium is a different medium. That is why a size that fitted last time can arrive wrong this time, and it is the commonest reason something has to go back. So we publish the numbers rather than asking you to guess.

How to measure

Use a soft tape. Keep it level all the way round, snug but not tight. Measure over your underwear rather than over clothes, and if you can, ask somebody to help with the back.

Bust, at the fullest point
Around the fullest part of the bust, with the tape level at the back.
Underbust, snug under the bust
Directly under the bust, snug against the ribs.
Waist, at the narrowest point
At the narrowest part of the waist, usually just above the navel.
Hip, at the fullest point
Around the fullest part of the hip, feet together.

Two kinds of chart, and why both matter

Body measurements say what body a size is cut for. Measure yourself, find the row, take that size.
Garment measurements are the finished measurements of the piece itself, laid flat. Compare them against something you already own and like. This is the number that settles an argument between two brands' idea of a medium.

Garment measurements, tops and dresses

Garment measurements

These are the measurements of the garment itself, laid flat and measured across, then doubled where marked. Compare them with a piece you already own and like.

M181625.514
L19.517.52614.5

Allow about 2 inches over your body measurement for an easy fit, and 1 inch for a close one.

Garment measurements, leggings and bottoms

Garment measurements

Measured flat and unstretched. Every one of these fabrics stretches, so a flat waist smaller than your own is normal and correct.

The waist is measured unstretched and relaxes to roughly one and a half times this figure.
